InfoD-Cafe: health websites/web apps that show rather then tell about disease and what you can do about it

Hi

I’d appreciate pointers to websites that do a good job of presenting basic
info about a disease and esp. what you can do about it
(prevention/detection).

I’d especially like to see sites that don’t rely so heavily on text to get
across prevention tips, screening tests, symptoms to watch for, for someone
who just found out they’re at risk for a condition. Looking for sites for
regular people (not healthcare professionals).

I’ve found some nice examples of showing public health statistics (HYPERLINK
"http://www.gapminder.org/"http://www.gapminder.org/ and HYPERLINK
"http://www.nytimes.com/ref/business/20070611_GAP_GRAPHIC.html"http://www.ny
times.com/ref/business/20070611_GAP_GRAPHIC.html# ), but nothing very
creative in conveying here’s a disease, here’s steps you can take (without
huge reams of text).

I have found some slideshows about disease states but was hoping for
something more innovative.

Thanks - Kathleen
